Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 14: LeGarrette Blount leads the run game again

Blount dominated the workload out of the backfield again. We break down the fantasy implications.

LeGarrette Blount finished Week 14 with 20 carries for 66 yards against the San Diego Chargers. For the third consecutive week the New England Patriots relied heavily on Blount and he led the team in carries out of the backfield

Blount also caught two passes for 11 yards on the night. He started off strong on the ground but failed to get much going as the game progressed, finishing with a 3.3 yard per carry average.

Fantasy impact: Bill Belichick is still relying on Blount’s power style to carry the run game, but it wasn’t all that effective in Week 14. The Chargers came into the night ranked No. 14 in rush yards allowed per game. Blount was cruising on the opening drive, but after getting to the goal line the Patriots looked to throw on second and third down, resulting in a field goal.

After seeing seven carries on the opening drive, Blount’s usage came down for the rest of the way. However, Shane Vereen and Jonas Gray combined for six touches against the Chargers. Blount is the guy to have if fantasy owners are looking for a Patriots running back. He’s still in the RB2 discussion for next week’s matchup with the Miami Dolphins.
