Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 17: Jonathan Stewart

Jonathan Stewart should have plenty of carries going his way again. Should fantasy owners ride him while he’s hot?

Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart was waiver-wire fodder in fantasy leagues just last month. Now, he’s probably responsible for some fantasy championships thanks to a 129-yard, one-score game against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16.

This week, he gets another favorable matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are the second-easiest matchup for fantasy running backs. Stewart has rushed at least 20 times in each of his last three games, and he’s likely looking at a similar workload as the Panthers fight to get into the playoffs. If they win, they will clinch the NFC South and enter as the fourth seed in the NFC despite a sub-.500 record, so they will be a team with something to play hard for.

Running back DeAngelo Williams is listed as probable, but there is a good chance he doesn’t get many carries. Even if he does play, Stewart’s carries should not be affected.

Fantasy impact: Everything is set up nicely for Stewart this week. He should be dialed in as a strong RB2.
