Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 16: Cecil Shorts

Cecil Shorts had a solid effort in Week 15. Should fantasy owners even consider using him on a short week?

Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts III is coming off his best game since the Week 11 bye. Against the Baltimore Ravens, he was able to rack up six catches and 76 yards in a loss. Of course, the Ravens are the second-worst defense against receivers, so that outing comes with a big tablespoon of salt.

Shorts and the Jaguars get another nice game against the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football. The Titans are the 11th-easiest matchup for receivers, so there is some promise for Shorts here. The Jaguars had one of their best passing games against them in Week 6 with their receivers coming up with 22 catches for 215 yards. Shorts actually caught a season-high 10 passes in that game, so perhaps he gets another chance to perform.

Fantasy impact: Excluding the solid Week 15, Shorts was a ghost in his previous three games, totaling 44 yards combined. There’s really no way you can consider him as a top 50 receiver on a short week.
