Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 16: Antonio Gates has great upside

Antonio Gates is going to be busy. Are the targets enough to start him in fantasy?

San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates should be busy on Saturday night. Receiver Keenan Allen is not going to play and tight Ladarius Green is still not 100 percent. Green is practicing, though.

Gates and the Chargers get a bad matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. However, they have been vulnerable to tight ends this season despite not having a very tough schedule against them. Surprisingly, tight ends have gone for 100 yards in back-to-back games in Week 13 and 14, but the 49ers shut the Seattle Seahawks tight ends out back in Week 15.

One big question mark will be quarterback Philip Rivers, who has been dealing with a mysterious back injury and could be limited. If there is negative news on Rivers, Gates owners might want to dial back expectations.

Fantasy impact: Outside of the Rivers issue, Gates should be ready to roll. He can be viewed as a TE5-10 this week.
