Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 15: Golden Tate

Golden Tate isn’t shining like he did without Calvin Johnson so much anymore. Is he still worth a start in fantasy?

Detroit Lions receiver Golden Tate was flying high while the team was without receiver Calvin Johnson. While he hasn’t been the top-five receiver he was back then, he’s still been able to put up decent numbers lately. He’s been targeted 25 times in his last three games combined, averaging 78.7 yards and 5.3 catches per game.

The Lions get a struggling Minnesota Vikings defense this week. Shockingly, the New York Jets receivers had 237 yards against them last week and the Vikings have been trending down since their Week 10 bye. They have a few injuries in their back seven and this game will be at Ford Field in Michigan, too.

Tate didn’t have a great game against the Vikings back in Week 6, catching seven of his 12 targets for 44 yards. It was one of quarterback Matthew Stafford’s worst games, but he tends to struggle on the road. The Vikings have actually been solid against WR1s on the year while WR2s have better luck compared to their counterparts, so Tate should be fine.

Fantast impact: He’s a strong WR2 in PPR and more of a WR28-24 in standard leagues this week.
