Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 15: Colin Kaepernick

The 49ers quarterback has struggled for consistency. Is he worth the start in Week 15?

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has had a tough go if it this season. Through 13 games, Kaepernick has completed 248 of his 409 passing attempts (60.6 percent) for 2,910 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He’s also chipped in 379 yards on the ground and lost four fumbles. Kaepernick has only thrown more than one touchdown three times this season, all of which occurred prior to Week 7. He’s also struggled to rack up the yards, topping the 250-yard mark twice and the 300-yard mark only once. With the 34 year-old Anquan Boldin as his best receiver and tight end Vernon Davis being criminally under-utilized as a receiver, there’s not much reason for optimism.

Fantasy Impact: Things won’t get any easier for Kaepernick against the Seattle Seahawks this week. Their defense gives up the fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. While there has been talk that the 49ers will unleash Kaepernick as a runner, there’s little reason to believe it will translate into effective fantasy production against Seattle. Kaepernick is a back-end QB2.
