Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 15: Antonio Gates

The Chargers veteran tight end has slowed the pace down. Is he worth the start in Week 15?

San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates hasn’t been able to keep up his rate of production. It’s been a tale of two halves for Gates. Through the first eight games of the season, he hauled in nine touchdowns. Gates hasn’t found the end zone since Week 8 and has only gone over 35 yards receiving once. He remains a solid security blanket for quarterback Philip Rivers but the 12-year veteran has lost a step and can’t consistently make the plays that we’ve come to expect from him over the years.

Fantasy Impact: Gates should have plenty of opportunities to rediscover his early-season form against the Denver Broncos. Their defense allows the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends and the 11th-fewest points to wide receivers. Gates is in line to see a healthy amount of targets but owners should should not expect more than low-end TE1 production. Ladarius Green has potential behind Gates but his fantasy breakout will have to wait at least one more year.
