Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 14: Anquan Boldin

Colin Kaepernick is really struggling to get the ball outside. Should fantasy owners trust Anquan Boldin?

The San Francisco 49ers have been a nightmare on offense lately and have been particularly bad in the passing game. They rank 25th in passing yards and 21st in passing scores on the season despite a somewhat strong start. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has scored just five total touchdowns since Oct. 13 and they’ve clearly shift their style to being even more run heavy.

Receiver Anquan Boldin has also seen his numbers take a dip lately, catching just three balls for 18 yards against the Seattle Seahawks last week. Boldin was doing somewhat well before that, but the 49ers probably aren’t going to trust Kaepernick enough to get the ball outside much.

While the Raiders are not a great team on the surface, they are actually the seventh-toughest matchup for fantasy receivers. Teams tend to just run the ball on them and try to play mistake-free football. That should be the case for Boldin this week.

Fantasy impact: His fantasy owners don’t want to get too cute, but he’s more of a low-end WR2 this week. If you have some nice options like New Orleans receiver Kenny Stills, it makes sense to go with them.
