Denard Robinson out for the year, fantasy owners implement changes
The Jaguars’ running back finally knows the extent of his injury. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson (foot) is out for the season with a torn ligament and has been placed on injured reserve by the team, according to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times Union. Robinson’s season ends with 582 yards rushing on 135 attempts to go with four touchdowns.
Fantasy Impact: it was quite the up-and-down year for Robinson, but luckily for the Jaguars, he was able to show enough potential for the team to be excited about his prospects for 2015. Fantasy owners should keep him in mind in the future too.
Robinson became a hot pickup on the waiver wire after drawing his first career NFL start back in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns. He promptly went out and rushed 22 times for 127 yards and a touchdown.
He would go on to total four touchdowns in his first four games as the starter before his numbers began to taper off.
We already knew that Robinson was likely done for the season after missing last week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens and now we know why.
Fantasy owners who absolutely have to start a Jaguars running back this week should go with veteran Toby Gerhart, although if he is the best option available, odds are that said fantasy owners are not playing for a championship.
