Cam Newton not seriously injured in car wreck

Cam Newton was involved in an accident Tuesday when his truck overturned on a bridge. Here’s everything we know.

Cam Newton was involved in a car accident in Charlotte on Tuesday afternoon. He was loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance after the wreck. The extent of Newton’s injuries are unknown at this time. He was reportedly able to communicate. Newton was taken to the hospital at 12:50 p.m. ET.

A police officer at the scene told Dianne Gallagher of Charlotte’s NBC affiliate that he thought everyone involved in the accident would be okay, but could not elaborate on any injuries.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Newton’s truck overturned on the Church Street bridge going over I-277 in Charlotte, near the Carolina Panthers‘ stadium, after colliding with a Buick sedan. Emergency crews arrived on the scene. There were reportedly no other passengers in Newton’s truck.

The Observer’s Jonathan Jones reported that it was Newton’s truck that overturned, and that Newton was driving. The Panthers commented on the accident via Twitter.

The Charlotte Observer was able to photograph Newton conscious at the scene.
