C.J. Spiller activated, has little time to make fantasy impact
The Bills activated C.J. Spiller and hope to have him back for Week 16. We break down the fantasy implications.
Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller has been activated from the injured reserve/designated to return list. The Bills have have yet to confirm that he will make his return in Week 16, saying that they will gauge his progress in practice this week.
Spiller has been out since breaking his collarbone in Week 7. It was originally thought to be a season-ending injury, but the Bills hedged their bets that he could return in time for a playoff push. It’s a gamble that seems to have paid off — the Bills are still alive for a wild card spot at 8-6, although they will need to win out and get help. Buffalo closes out its regular season against the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots.
Fantasy impact: The Bills’ running game has been chugging along fine with a committee of Fred Jackson, Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown, so Spiller could end up lost in the shuffle even if he returns this week. His uncertain status means that fantasy owners can’t rely on him for the Week 16 championships. Spiller is only worth owning if your league plays into Week 17, but he’ll be a dicey flex play at best.
