Blake Bortles active but won’t be a fantasy asset Thursday night

Blake Bortles has a minor foot sprain but he will get the start on Thursday night. We break down the fantasy implications.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles will be active and start in Thursday night’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Bortles is playing despite suffering a mid-foot sprain.

It’s not known when Bortles suffered the injury, since he played every snap in Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He got limited practice time and will be suiting up despite the short week. The No. 3 pick from the 2014 NFL Draft, Bortles’ rookie year has been … a learning experience. He’s thrown for just 2,676 and 10 touchdowns compared to 17 interceptions in 12 games.

Fantasy impact: The Jaguars have been just playing out the string for a good two months now, but they need Bortles to keep getting experience in live game action. Bortles has shown flashes of greatness and is a worthy keeper in dynasty leagues, but he hasn’t been playable in re-draft leagues. He’s well off the fantasy radar in championship rounds as Thursday Night Football wraps up another underwhelming year.
