Andre Ellington injury update: feature back ruled out for Cardinals, fantasy owners

The Cardinals will be short-handed on offense this Sunday as they continue vying for the NFC West crown. We break down the fantasy implications:

Arizona Cardinals‘ running back Andre Ellington has officially been ruled out for the team’s Week 14 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ellington had been dealing with a foot injury all season long, but it is a severe hip pointer that kept him out of practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. As a result, the Cardinals will not have their feature back lead their rotation Sunday.

Fantasy Spin: It’s a shame that fantasy owners won’t get Ellington into their lineups since he’d likely have plenty of room to run. Though the Chiefs aren’t allowing a high amount of fantasy points to running backs, the numbers are skewed due to allowing just two rushing touchdowns to them this year. But as a whole, they are in the bottom three in rushing yards allowed on the season.

Stepfan Taylor will get the “start” this Sunday, but it’s fully expected that Marion Grice will be involved in the mix as well. It’s a fantasy situation to avoid for most owners, as even with a decent matchup, there’s not much to suggest that the current stable of Cardinals’ backs can take advantage of it.
