49ers vs. Raiders start/sit advice: Anquan Boldin, Colin Kaepernick, Latavius Murray

No one had worse Week 13s than these two teams.

Probably the two least-impressive teams in Week 13 were the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders were destroyed by the St. Louis Rams, 52-0, while the 49ers had an embarrassing performance on Thanksgiving in their 19-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams look to recover from those bad games Sunday when they play one another.

For all intents and purposes, the 49ers come into Sunday’s game healthy; running back Carlos Hyde and wide receivers Michael Crabtree, Stevie Johnson and Brandon Lloyd were all on the week’s injury report, but none are expected to miss Sunday. On the Raiders side, the only fantasy-relevant name on the injury report is running back Latavius Murray. He’s cleared the league’s concussion protocol and should play Sunday.

Sunday’s game, scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET, will be played in Oakland, a short trip for the 49ers. Here’s a look at the fantasy names of note:

Start ‘em: The only part of the 49ers’ team you can possible feel safe with right now is the 49ers’ defense, which looks like one of the league’s top options this week.

Start ‘em?: As bad as Week 13 was, Frank Gore does have a nice-looking matchup Sunday. He can’t be considered much more than a dicey flex play, but that has some value. … As bad as the San Francisco offense has been of late, Anquan Boldin is the most trustworthy option. He’s a fine flex. … Assuming the offense can get back on track in what looks like a good matchup, Phil Dawson ought to have plenty of chances to kick.

Sit ‘em: It’s been basically a disastrous fantasy season for Colin Kaepernick, bottoming out with Week 13′s one-point game. Even in what looks like a strong fantasy matchup, it’s hard to imagine trusting him as a fantasy starter. … Carlos Hyde has outperformed Gore in fantasy each of the last two weeks, but Gore is still the top guy. He’s hard to use. … Michael Crabtree, Stevie Johnson and Vernon Davis are all well outside fantasy consideration right now.

Sit ‘em: It’s been an awful run for Derek Carr; he’s averaged 5.3 fantasy points a game in his last three and 8.4 in his last seven. You can’t use him. … Latavius Murray looked great two weeks ago in his first game of real action, but after his concussion, and the team saying he might not get a full complement of touches, and with his short track record, he’s hard to use; at the same time, that doesn’t make Darren McFadden or Maurice Jones-Drew usable. … James Jones, Andre Holmes and Mychal Rivera have each had their moments, but those moments have passed. … Sebastian Janikowski never had a chance to do anything in Week 13. He had performed well before that, but without any guarantee from the offense, he’s hard to trust. … The Raiders’ defense has been the league’s worst for fantasy this season.

Start in every league: San Francisco defense

Start if you’re desperate: Frank Gore, Anquan Boldin, Phil Dawson

Bench: Colin Kaepernick, Carlos Hyde, Michael Crabtree, Stevie Johnson, Vernon Davis, Derek Carr, Latavius Murray, Darren McFadden, Maurice Jones-Drew, James Jones, Andre Holmes, Mychal Rivera, Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland defense
