Chicago White Sox vs. Detroit Tigers

The Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers face off in Chicago for game two of their series at US Cellular Field. The Tigers are -150 favorites over the White Sox with an over/under run total set at 8.
The Chicago White Sox are hanging on in the AL Central as they are still rebuilding but at the same time they are also contending. Jose Abreu hit a home run, Gordon Beckham had three hits, and Adam Eaton and Conor Gillaspie had two hits each as the White Sox scored six runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher hector Noesi allowed seven hits and four runs while striking gout five over 5.2 innings to get the win and go to 2-4 for the season and Ronald Belisario earned his sixth save. For Tuesday’s game the White Sox start John Danks who got the win in his last start. For the season Danks has allowed 70 hits and 36 earned runs while striking out 54 over 75 innings for a 4-5 record and a 4.32 ERA.
The Detroit Tigers continue to lead the AL Central but they have been less than convincing that they have what it takes to run away with it. Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, and Eugenio Suarez each hit home runs as the Tigers scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Rick Porcello allowed nine hits and six runs, five earned, while striking out four over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 8-4 for the season. For todays game the Tigers start Justin Verlander who has lost three of his last four starts.
Chicago is 7-1 against the AL Central, 26-36 against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 in Danks’ last five starts. Detroit is 20-7 in game two of a series, 2-7 in their last nine games, and 4-1 in Verlander’s last five starts as a road favorite. Detroit is 4-1 in their last five games in Chicago.
Verlander has been hit hard of late and the White Sox have a lineup that can hit him hard here.
