Washington Wizards vs. Indiana Pacers
The Washington Wizards look to square up the series tonight against the Indiana Pacers in Game 6. The Wizards are -4.5 point favorites over the Pacers.
Four of Indiana’s starters played more than 39 minutes in Game 4 so coach Vogel decided to give his team a day off before Game 5 to freshen them up but that didn’t seem to help at all. David West led the team with 17 points while Paul George added 15, but in one of their worst offensive performances this season, no other Pacer even finished in double digits. As a team, they just couldn’t get it going early on which led to just 52 points after three quarters and their defense certainly didn’t help, allowing the Wizards to shoot a series-high 50 percent from the field and outrebound them by an amazing 62-23!
As for the Wizards, Marcin Gortat had an absolute monster night of 31 points on 13 of 15 shooting while John Wall broke free for 27 points of his own, 21 of which came on jumpshots, but this game was all about effort and energy, which is where the Wizards absolutely dominated. I mentioned the rebounding disparity between the teams and the shooting percentage, but you could just tell from tip-off that the Wizards were playing with the highest level of desperation and urgency while the Pacers simply looked tired and uninterested.
In ATS trends, the Pacers are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss, while the Wizards are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a win of more than 10 points and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
In this series, the underdog has gone a perfect 5-0 ATS but I just get the feeling that the Wizards will buck the trend tonight. I understand if you take the Pacers with the points here, but if the Wizards play half as good as they did in Game 5, we’re looking at a dramatic Game 7 in a couple of nights.
Washington Wizards -4.5 Indiana Pacers
