Portland Trail Blazers vs. San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs can sweep the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round of the NBA playoffs with a win on Monday. The Spurs are -3.5 point favorites over the Trail Blazers.
The Spurs have absolutely dominated this series from start to finish, including a 118-103 victory in game three. The Spurs improve to 26-3 SU in their last 29 games when scoring 100 or more points, which includes four straight in the playoffs. In the Spurs last five games, they’re averaging 115.6 points on 52.3 percent shooting and allowing 100.2 points on 43.3 percent shooting. The Spurs are also shooting 44.3 percent from downtown. The Spurs are clearly on a mission to end this series as quick as possible, including Tony Parker, who is shooting 52.4 percent from the field and averaging 26 points in this series. The San Antonio Spurs are 49-43 ATS overall and 26-19 ATS on the road.
The Trail Blazers appear to be outmatched in this series, including a game three loss in which they shot 42.9 percent from the field and turned the ball over 14 times. In the Trail Blazers last five games, they’re averaging 97.8 points on 42 percent shooting and allowing 110.8 points on 49.1 percent shooting. The Trail Blazers defense isn’t getting the job done, but their offense isn’t either as they’re 3-5 SU in the playoffs when allowing 100 or more points. One of the more concerning stats in this series is the play from Damian Lillard, who is shooting just 37.5 percent from the field and 7.7 percent from three. The Portland Trail Blazers are 46-45 ATS overall and 19-26 ATS at home.
The Spurs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 16-7 ATS in their last 23 games following a S.U. win. The Trail Blazers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Spurs are 4-10 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Portland.
I’ve been picking against the Spurs for much of this series and it obviously hasn’t paid off. However, if there’s any game the Trail Blazers are going to show up, it would be this one. Nobody wants to end the season with a sweep on their home court. The Trail Blazers are a much better team than what they’ve showed. Hopefully that team shows up Monday.
Take the Trail Blazers and the points in this one.
