Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies

The Miami Marlins looked to have Tuesday’s game against the Phillies own but they let it slip away losing the lead late. Garret Jones had four hits and Casey McGehee and Jarrid Saltalamacchia each had hits as the Marlins scored five runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani allowed six hits and five runs while striking out two over 5.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-1 for the season. The Philadelphia Phillies were forced to hold on for the win on Tuesday but they were able to do so beating the Marlins. Jimmy Rollins had two hits including a home run and Chase Utley and Ryan Howard had hits as the Phllies scored six runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher A.J. Burnett allowed three hit sand three runs while striking out five over 5.0 innings to get the win and go to 303 for the season and Jonathan Papelbon earned his 12th save. For Wednesday’s game the Phillies start Kyle Kendrick who has lost his last four decisions. For the season Kendrick has allowed 51 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 32 over 50 innings for a 0-4 record and a 3.96 ERA.
Miami is 6-0 as a home favorite, 6-2 as a favorite, and 6-1 in Eovaldi’s last seven home starts. Philadelphia is 4-1 against the NL East, 2-5 in their last seven games as an underdog, and 2-7 in Kendrick’s last nine road starts. Philadelphia is 47-22 in the last 69 meetings of these two.
