Houston Astros vs. Baltimore Orioles
The Houston Astros and the Baltimore Orioles face off on Sunday at Minute Maid park as they close out their series. The Orioles are -120 favorites over the Astros with an over/under run total set at 8.
The Houston Astros had been red hot but they were cooled off on Saturday as they fell to the Orioles. Dexter Fowler, Jason Castro, and Matt Dominguez each had hits as the Astros scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel allowed six hits and three runs striking out three over 6.0 innings tot take the loss and fall to 6-3 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Astros start Scott Feldman who got the win in his last start. For the season Feldman has allowed 48 hits and 16 earned runs while striking out 22 over 47.2 innings for a 3-2 record and a 3.02 ERA.
The Baltimore Orioles haven’t been at their best recently but they were good enough to get the win on Saturday. Nelson Cruz had two hits including his 20th home run and J.J. Hardy and Manny Machado each had two hits as the Orioles scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Chris Tillman allowed four hits and a run while striking out three over 6.2 innings to get the win and go to 5-2 for the season and Zach Britton earned his fourth save. For Sunday’s game the O’s start Wei-Yin Chen who has no decisions in his last two starts. For the season Chen has allowed 72 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 40 over 58 innings for a 5-2 record and a 4.50 ERA.
Houston is 5-2 against a team with a winning record, 20-47 in their last 67 home games, and 23-62 against a left-handed starter. Baltimore is 2-5 in game four of a series, 1-4 in their last five road games, and 0-4 in Chen’s last four starts as a home favorite. Baltimore is 13-5 in their last 18 meetings against Houston.
Chen has found his game of late and while the Astros have been at their best I like the Orioles to gain the split in the series.
