Colorado Rockies vs. New York Mets

The Colorado Rockies and the New York Mets face off on Friday in game two of their series at Coors Field. The Rockies are -135 favorites over the Mets with an over/under run total set at 9.
The Colorado Rockies jumped out to a big lead on Thursday and they made it hold up as they took game of the series against the Mets. Carlos Gonzalez hit a home run, Corey Dickrson had three hits, and Troy Tulowitzki had two hits as the Rockies scored seven runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Juan Nicasio allowed three hits and struck out two over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 3-1 for the season. For Friday’s game the Rockies start Jorge De La Rosa who has won his last two starts. For the season De la Rosa has allowed 28 hits and 18 runs while striking out 28 over 31 innings for a 2-3 record and a 5.23 ERA.
The New York Mets never got the bats going on Thursday until it was too late as they came up short in Colorado. Juan Lagares and Chris Young had two hits each and Travis d’Arnaud hit a home run as the Mets scored four runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon allowed seven runs and 10 hits while striking out three lasting just 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-4 for the season. For Friday’s game the Mets start Zack Wheeler who has had no decisions in his last two starts. For the season Wheeler has allowed 31 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 31 over 29.1 innings for a 1-2 record and a 3.99 ERA.
Colorado is 5-1 in game two of a series, 7-2 as a home favorite, and 10-3 in De La Rosa’s last 13 starts. New York is 4-2 in their last six road games, 5-3 in their last eight games, and 7-2 in Wheeler’s last nine road starts. New York is 1-5 in their last six games in Colorado.
The Mets just didn’t have it on Thursday but I look for them to bounce back here and get the win.
