Baltimore Orioles vs. Detroit Tigers

The Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers face off on Tuesday in Baltimore in game two of their series. The Orioles are -120 favorites over the Tigers with an over/under run total set at 8.5.
The Baltimore Orioles lead the AL East but on Monday they couldn’t must enough offense to defeat the AL Central leading Tigers. Steve Clevenger had three hits and Manny Machado and Adam Jones each added hits as the Orioles scored one run on six hits. Starting pitcher Bud Norris allowed four runs on five hits while striking out seven over 7.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-2 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Orioles start Ubaldo Jimenez who has won his last two starts. For the season Jimenez has allowed 43 hits and 21 earned runs while striking out 34 over 40 innings for a 2-4 record and a 4.72 ERA.
The Detroit Tigers battled for nine full innings and in the end they got the win over the AL East leading Orioles. Ian Kinsler had two hits including a home run, Victor Martinez had two hits, and Miguel Cabrera added a hit as the Tigers scored four runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Rick Porcello allowed five hits and a run while striking out two over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 6-1 for the season and Joe Nathan earned his eighth save. For Tuesday’s game the Tigers start Drew Smyly who lost at home to Houston in his last start. For the season Smyly has allowed 21 hits and nine earned runs while striking out 23 over 27.1 innings for a 2-2 record and a 2.96 ERA.
Baltimore is 5-2 in their last seven games, 4-2 in their last six home games, and 2-5 in Jimenez’s last seven starts. Detroit is 10-3 in their last 13 games, 24-9 in game two of a series, and 1-5 in Smyly’s last six starts.
I am expecting to see more scoring in this one than we saw on Monday and my pick here is on the over.
