Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Cincinnati Reds
The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Friday in Arizona for game two of their series. The Diamondbacks are -115 favorites over the Reds with an over/under run total set at 8.5.
The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to try and salvage their season and get back into the race as they beat the Reds on Thursday. Aaron Hill had three including a home run and martin Prado and A.J. Pollock both had two hits as the Diamondbacks scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Josh Collmenter went the distance allowing three hits and striking out five over a complete game shutout to get the win and raise his record to 4-2. For Friday’s game the Diamondbacks start Bronson Arroyo who spent the last eight years with the Reds. For the season Arroyo has allowed 66 hits and 28 runs while striking out 34 over 60.2 innings for a 4-3 record and a 4.15 ERA.
The Cincinnati Reds simply had no offense as they fell to the D-backs on Thursday. Brayan Pena had two hits and Billy Hamilton had a hit as the Reds failed to score on three hits. Starting pitcher Tony Cingrani allowed seven hits and two earned runs while striking out three over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-5 for the season. For Friday’s game the Reds start Mike Leake who has three losses and three no decisions in his last six starts. For the season Leake has allowed 61 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 46 over 71 innings for a 2-4 record and a 2.79 ERA.
Arizona is 5-1 in their last six home games, 5-9 as a home favorite, and 4-1 in Arroyo’s last five starts. Cincinnati is 4-11 in their last 15 road games, 2-8 against a team with a losing record, and 1-6 in Leake’s last seven starts. Cincinnati has win four of their last six games against Arizona.
Leake has the numbers in everywhere but the win column but I like for him to change that here.
