Portland Trail Blazers vs. Los Angeles Clippers
The Portland Trail Blazers welcome the Los Angeles Clippers to town in the season finale for both squads. The Clippers are -1 point favorites over the Trail Blazers with an over/under point total set at 212.
Head to head, the underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The Trail Blazers are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 2 days rest, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games. The Clippers on the other hand are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
While this game doesn’t mean a whole lot to the Portland Trail Blazers (they will be facing the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoff regardless), it still has a bit of meaning for the visiting Los Angles Clippers because they are still in the hunt for the No. 2 seed in the West. Having said that, it does seem unlikely that the Clippers would jump up to No. 2 because Oklahoma City would have to lose at home against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night, which isn’t happening, lets face it.
As far as recent meetings between the two go, LA has won and covered in two of three this season, however, both of those wins came on their home floor. In their lone showdown in Portland, the Trail Blazers managed to hold off the Clipps in overtime 116-112. In their previous meeting in Portland last season, it was again a tight contest as the Blazers won by the slimmest of margins, 101-100.
I like the Clippers to pull out the win late and cover the spread as well.
