Chicago White Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays
The Chicago White Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays face off on Monday as they close out their series in Chicago. The Rays are -120 favorites over the White Sox with an over/under run total set at 8.5
The Chicago White Sox got the win on Sunday to get back to .500 for the season and they have won two of the first three games in this series. On Sunday Jose Abreu had two hits including a home run, Adam Eaton had three hits, and Alexei Ramirez and Marcus Semien each had two hits as the White Sox scored nine runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Scott Carroll has spent his entire eight year career in the Minors and he made the most of his shot at the Majors allowing six hits and two runs, one earned, while striking out three over 7.1 innings to get the win. For Monday’s game the White Sox start Andre RIenzo who got the win in his last start. For the season Rienzo has allowed six hits and four runs while striking out four over 7.1 innings for a 1-0 record and a 4.91 ERA.
The Tampa Bay Rays were big favorites on Sunday but that wasn’t enough to get them the win as they fell to the White Sox. Ben Zobrist had two hits and Matt Joyce, Evan Longoria, and Wil Myers each had hits as the Rays scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher David Price allowed nine hits and eight runs, six of them earned, while striking out seven over 6.0 innings tot ake the loss and fall to 3-2 for the season. For Monday’s game the Rays start Jake Odorizzi who has a no decision and two losses in his last three starts. For the season Odorizzi has allowed 23 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 17 over 19.1 innings for a 1-2 record and a 6.52 ERA.
Chicago is 8-3 at home against a right-handed starter, 5-10 as a home underdog, and 5-12 against the AL East. Tampa Bay is 7-4 as a road favorite, 1-5 in their last six road games, and 0-4 in Odorizzi’s last four road starts. Tampa Bay is 6-2 in the last eight meetings of these two.
Both of these pitchers are hittable and I expect to see hitting here and my pick is the over.
