Los Angeles Clippers vs. Denver Nuggets
The Los Angeles Clippers take the trip to the Pepsi Center tonight to take on the Denver Nuggets. The Clippers are -4.5 point favorites over the Nuggets with an over/under point total set at 221.
The Clippers have now won 11 straight games and last night, were able to trounce the lowly Cavaliers by 102-80 at home. On his 25th birthday, Blake Griffin led the way with 21 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, while Chris Paul added 16 points and 15 assists but the biggest positive from the win was the Clippers’ ability to hold the Cavs to less than 35 percent shooting. On offense, the Clippers did a great job of moving the ball while still protecting it, making 32 assists on 42 made shots while committing just five turnovers. With the win, LA stays as one of the hottest teams in the league and moves to 48-20 overall which is only one game behind Oklahoma City who currently sit in second place in the West.
Meanwhile, the Nuggets are returning home from a 2-3 road trip that ended with a 97-92 loss at Atlanta on Saturday. Kenneth Faired poured in 25 points in just 27 minutes while JJ Hickson added 11 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, but the Nuggets were always playing catchup after falling behind by 53-37 going into halftime. Ty Lawson had nine rebounds and 11 assists, but finished with just two points as he missed all of his 12 shot attempts. With the loss, Denver drops to 29-37 overall and 13-21 on the road where they’ve lost nine of their last 12.
In ATS trends, the Clippers are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five road games and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall, while the Nuggets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games.
Head to head, the home team is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings but the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last five overall.
I’m tempted to take the Nuggets with the points here, but there’s just no way I can go against the Clippers in the form they’ve been in lately.
