Philadelphia 76ers vs. Atlanta Hawks

The Philadelphia 76ers square off against the visiting Atlanta Hawks on Friday night from Wells Fargo Arena. The Hawks are -4 point favorites over the 76ers with an over/under point total set at 211.5.
Head to head, the underdog is 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings. The 76ers are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 home games, 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Hawks on the other hand are 17-6 ATS in their last 23 games playing on 1 days rest, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. NBA Atlantic.
I find it quite strange that there is a line currently out for this game considering that Jeff Teague will be a game time decision. Teague might not be a household name, but he is the Atlanta Hawks second best player and could be the difference to them covering the spread or not. Either way, I’m not taking the Philadelphia 76ers.
While there is no doubting that the future is bright in Philly, they are just not a very good basketball team at this point in time. Not only that, but they have been really bad at home for virtually the whole season, expect for when surpised Miami and Chicago in the first week of action. Since that time however, the 76ers have gone 5-16 against the spread at Wells Fargo Arena. It gets worse though as they have lost seven of their last eight at home, all by nine points or greater.
Despite the injuries to Teague and All-Star Al Horford (who will be out for the remainder of the season), the Hawks haven’t missed a beat as they continue on their winning ways. While Atlanta comes into tonight’s contest off a loss at Oklahoma City on Monday night, they were unlucky not to get the win as they led for virtually the entire game before Kevin Durant put the Thunder on his back in the fourth quarter and ended up hitting the game-winning jumper as time expired.
The Hawks haven’t been a great road team this season, but they have been better so far in 2014 and had they managed to hang on against OKC, they would be currently riding a three game road winning streak. I could go on, but I just don’t feel confident about backing a Philly team that losses at home by double-digits more often than not.
