Los Angeles Lakers vs. Indiana Pacers

The Los Angeles Lakers return home to face Paul George and the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers are -9.5 point favorites over the Lakers with an over/under point total set at 204.
Head to head, the Pacers are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Los Angeles while road team is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Lakers are 6-2 ATS in the last 8 games overall, but just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games playing on 1 days rest. The Pacers on the other hand are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, but just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games.
There’s no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers are playing some decent basketball at the moment, even if they are coming off four straight losses, but this is just a bad spot for them for two mains reasons. One, this will be their first game back from a seven-game road trip, a spot that never ends well for the home team for whatever reason. Not only that, but 10 of their last 11 outings were all on the road, so I don’t expect them to be at their best tonight. Secondly, the Indiana Pacers are coming off a double-digit loss in Denver on Saturday night and you know they are going to come out strong here after that defeat. While not many would have predicted a 13-point loss against the Nuggets, it’s not all that surprising seeing as they were coming off an overtime win in Sacramento the night before and that was their third straight road game in four nights. Not only that, but Denver is one of the toughest places to play in the NBA for a number of reasons.
The Pacers have actually failed to cover the spread in six of their last seven games away from home, but like I just touched on, they are coming off a double-digit defeat and they have had two days to rest and prepare for this game. Meanwhile, I expect Los Angeles to be sloppy given their heavy road schedule since the start of the new year. I could go on and one, but I think these two factors will ultimately result in a comfortable win by Mr George and company.
