North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Kentucky Wildcats

The North Carolina Tar Heels and the Kentucky Wildcats face off on Saturday in the Dean Dome in college basketball action. The Tar Heels are -3 point favorites over the Wildcats with an over/under point total set at 150.
The North Carolina Tar Heels are ranked 18th in the nation and already have marquis wins over Louisville and Michigan State but at the same time they also have losses to UAB and Belmont. UNC has played the 17th ranked schedule thus far and it doesn’t look to get much easier. Marcus Paige leads the Heels averaging 18.8 points ad 4.5 assists per game. Brice Johnson is averaging 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds, James Michael McAdoo is averaging 13 points and 5.9 rebounds, and J.P. Tokoto is averaging 9.4 points and 5.5 rebounds. North Carolina is averaging 77.5 points and they are shooting 47.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 66.5 points and their opponents are shooting 37.6 percent. North Carolina could build a serious resume with a win here making it their third win over a college basketball giant in a month.
The Kentucky Wildcats are 8-2 on the season and ranked 11th in the nation. UK has played the 102nd ranked schedule but both of their losses are to ranked teams, Baylor and Michigan State. Julius Randle leads the Cats averaging 17.8 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. James Young is averaging 13.9 points, Aaron Harrison is averaging 13.8 points, and Andrew Harrison is averaging 10.3 points. As a team Kentucky is averaging 80.8 points and they are shooting 48.3 percent while defensively they are allowing 63.4 points and their opponents are shooting 36.3 percent. Kentucky is made up primarily of freshmen and they still have some learning to do.
North Carolina is 4-1 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 home games, and 2-7 against the spread following a win. Kentucky is 9-4-1 against the spread in their last 14 non-conference games, 3-13-1 against the spread against the ACC, and 0-7-1 against the spread in their last eight road games. Kentucky is 1-8-1 against the spread in the last 10 meetings of these two.
This is big number as far as totals go and it is because of the star power on the court but I don’t see it making it past 150 so the under is my pick.
