Missouri Tigers vs. Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers and the Missouri Tigers face off on Saturday in the Georgia Dome in college football’s SEC Championship Game. The Missouri Tigers are -3 point favorites over the Auburn Tigers with an over/under of 58.5.
The Auburn Tigers lost just once this season and they are one of the biggest turnaround stories in college football winning the SEC West and playing for the SEC Title. Auburn had a few “miracle” wins this season including last Saturday’s stunner against defending National Champion Alabama. Nick Marshall leads the Auburn offense completing 59.2 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions and he has rushed for 922 yards and 10 touchdowns. Tre Mason leads the Auburn ground attack rushing for 1,317 yards and 18 touchdowns and he has just been tough to bring down. Sammie Coates leads Auburn is receiving wit 32 catches and six touchdowns and Ricardo Louis has 25 catches and two touchdowns. Chris Davis, who was the hero against Alabama, is also the Tigers leading tackler with 66 and Cassanova McKinzy, Ryan Smith, and Jermaine Whitehead have 56 tackles each. Auburn is averaging 38.6 points and 491 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 22.5 points and 414.2 yards per game. Auburn is hoping they don’t need another wild finish to pull this one out.
The Missouri Tigers may seem like unlikely winners of the SEC East but they have more than proved it on the field with their lone loss coming in double overtime on a field goal that hit the upright and was no good. Missouri have left few doubts on the field simply beating their opponents on both sides of the ball each week. James Franklin has returned at QB for the Tigers and he has completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 16 touchdowns and four interceptions. Henry Josey has rushed for 951 yards and 13 touchdowns in his comeback season, Russell Hansbrough has rushed for 624 yards and four touchdowns, and Marcus Murphy has rushed for 561 yards and nine touchdowns. Marcus Lucas has 50 receptions, Dorial Green-Beckham has 49 receptions and 10 touchdowns, and L’Damian Washington has 44 receptions and 10 touchdowns. Andrew Wilson has 87 tackles, Braylon Webb has 73 tackles, and Michael Sam has 10.5 sacks as they lead the Mizzou defense. Missouri is averaging 38.8 points and 489.5 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 19.4 points and 385.4 yards per game. In just their second year in the SEC Missouri has made their presence known.
Auburn is 7-0 against the spread in their last seven SEC games, 6-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 10-1 against the spread in their last 11 games overall. Missouri is 4-0 against the spread in their last four SEC games, 8-1-1 against the spread following a win, and 6-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
I expect a lot of points in this game and will pound the over.
