Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns vs. Tulane Green Wave
The Tulane Green Wave and the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns face off in the 2013 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The Ragin’ Cajuns are -1 point favorites over the Green Wave with an over/under point total set at 65.
The Tulane Green Wave are going bowling and they get to do so in their home city after going 7-5 this season. Curtis Johnson has done a solid job to bring a program to a bowl we don’t see in the post season too often. Nick Montana has completed 53.1 percent of his passes with 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Orleans Darkwa has gained 780 yards with nine touchdowns. Ryan Grant has been the Tulane air attack with 70 receptions and nine touchdowns and Justyn Shackelford has 34 catches and five touchdowns. Sam Scofield has 94 tackles, Darion Monroe has 83 tackles and 3.5 sacks, and Nico Marley has 59 tackles. Tulane is averaging 25.1 points and 304.2 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 21.2 points and 352.6 yards per game. Tulane should be sky high with the home crowd behind them.
The ULL Ragin’ Cajuns have become bowl regulars under perhaps one of the most under rated Head Coaches in football, Mark Hudspeth. The news in this one all revolves around the status of QB Terrance Broadway who missed ULL’s final regular season game with a wrist injury and he is questionable for this one. Broadway completed 62 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and he rushed for 421 yards and eight touchdowns. Alonzo Harris has rushed for 868 yards and 13 touchdowns and Elijah McGuire has rushed for 818 yards and seven touchdowns. Jamal Robinson has 50 receptions and eight touchdowns and Darryl Surgent has 29 catches and five touchdowns. Justin Anderson has 123 tackles, Dominique Tovell has 4 tackles including 12 for a loss, and Sean Thomas has 60 tackles. ULL is averaging 34.6 points and 424.4 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 26.9 points and 394 yards per game. ULL’s chances here will have a lot to do with the status of Broadway.
Tulane is 4-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games overall, and 5-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. ULL is 17-6 following a loss, 11-3 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 0-5 against the spread in their last five games.
I like the Ragin’ Cajuns to squeak out a narrow victory.
