Buffalo Bulls vs. San Diego St. Aztecs

The Buffalo Bulls and the San Diego State Aztecs face off on Saturday in the Idaho Famous Potato Bowl. The Aztecs are -1 point favorites over the Bulls with an over/under point total set at 53.
The Buffalo Bulls had a solid season but they fell just short of the MAC Championship Game after they lost to Bowling Green. Joe Licata completed 59.1 percent of his passes for 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Branden Oliver has rushed for 1,421 yards with 15 touchdowns and he has 22 receptions. Alex Neutz has 58 receptions and 11 touchdowns and Fred Lee has 54 receptions and four touchdowns. Kahlil Mack has 94 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and three interceptions, Lee Skinner has 75 tackles, and Okoye Houston has 59 tackles. Buffalo is averaging 30.8 points and 401.8 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 22.3 points and their opponents are averaging 376.3 yards per game. Buffalo lost two of their last three to end the season.
The San Diego State Aztecs rallied late in the season winning seven of their last nine games to land in a bowl game. Quinn Kaehler has completed 60.1 percent of his passes with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Adam Muema has rushed for 1,015 yards with 12 touchdowns and Done Pumphrey has rushed for 750 yards and he has 22 receptions. Ezell Ruffin has 63 receptions and Colin Lockett has 49 receptions. Nat Berhe leads the SDSU defense with 94 tackles, Eric Pinkins has 68 tackles, and Nick Tenhaeff has 64 tackles. San Diego State averages 28.2 points and 422 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 32.3 points and 392.6 yards per game. SDSU lost their last game of the season but for the most part they took care of business in the Mountain West this season.
Buffalo is 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games, 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 non-conference games, and 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record. San Diego State is 5-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 1-6 against the spread in their last seven non-conference games, and 4-1 against the spread following a game which they allowed over 40 points.
The total in this game is set at 53 and that is lower than most of the scores in games involving either of these teams so my pick is the over.

Pick
