Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego Chargers

The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers face off o Sunday in Kansas City in an AFC West NFL showdown. The Chiefs are -4.5 point favorites over the Chargers with an over/under point total set at 43.5.
The Kansas Chiefs are coming off of their first loss of the season and with the loss came a drop to second place in the division. While the Chiefs are comfortably in the playoffs at this point they will have another shot at the Broncos and first place if they can win their other games. The Chiefs offense is averaging 23.2 points and 320 yards per game and they are plus 15 in turnover ratio. Alex Smith has completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 2,149 yards with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. Jamaal Charles has rushed for 803 yards and six touchdowns and he has 49 receptions. Dwayne Bowe has 37 receptions and Dexter McCluster has 30 catches. Defensively the Chiefs allow 13.8 points and 336.9 yards per game with 36 QB sacks. Derrick Johnson has 73 tackles and 3.5 sacks, Justin Houston has 11 sacks, and Tamba Hali has nine sacks. The Chiefs are a little banged up but they have plenty in the tank.
The San Diego Chargers are still in the playoff hunt but they are 4-6 and tied for last place in the AFC West standings. The Chargers offense is averaging 22.8 points and 399.4 yards per game. Phillip Rivers has completed 70.9 percent of his passes for 2,989 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions and he has been sacked just 19 times. Ryan Mathews has rushed for 666 yards and two touchdowns and Danny Woodhead has rushed for 241 yards and he also has 55 receptions with four receiving touchdowns. Eric Weddle has 77 tackles, Donald Butler has 42 tackles, and Marcus Gilchrist has 43 tackles. The Chargers seem to be in just about every game it is just a matter of turning a few more of those close games into wins.
Kansas City is 5-11 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 3-7 against the spread following a loss, and 2-6 against the spread against the AFC west. San Diego is 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five road games, and 6-2 against the spread following a loss. The home team has covered the point spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
The Chiefs have some wounds to heal but the should heal fast and I look for them to win the turnover battle here and that should be enough to get them a narrow cover.
