Atlanta Hawks vs. Dallas Mavericks

The Atlanta Hawks hope to turn things around as they host Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks. The Hawks are -1 point favorites over the Mavericks with an over/under point total set at 204.5.
Head to head, the Mavericks are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The Hawks are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss, but just 8-18 ATS in their last 26 vs. NBA Southwest and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. The Mavericks on the other hand are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 vs. NBA Southeast, 24-8 ATS in their last 32 road games, 16-6 ATS in their last 22 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
What’s going on with the Atlanta Hawks lately? They have gone from this high scoring team to one that can’t score at all. Nine of their first 10 games of the season they scored over 100 points and at one stage were the top scoring team in the Eastern Conference. Now? They can’t seem to sniff 100 points and in actual fact, they have scored in the 80’s in two of their last three outings. It hasn’t helped that sharp shooter Kyle Korver has been dealing with a rib contusion for the last couple of games and it questionable to return tonight.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks bounced back from their first home loss of the season against the surging Denver Nuggets, holding off a galant Golden State team 103-99 on Wednesday night. While the Mavs did improve to 8-1 at home on the young season, there play has to improve on the road if they want to be taken seriously in the Western Conference as they have won just two of their first seven games away from home. There defense he been about the same, but they are scoring over four points a game less on the road than at home, which has to improve.
I’ve been trying to come up with angles to take the Hawks tonight, but I just can’t find any. When you start players like Cartier Martin and DeMarre Carroll, your just not a good team, I’m sorry. Dallas on the other hand has been average on the road thus far, but that’s mainly because they have played some of the better teams. When they start playing the likes of Boston, Charlotte and Toronto, they record will go in the opposite direction. Fading Atlanta here.

Dallas Mavericks +1 Atlanta Hawks
