Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens face of on Sunday in Pittsburgh in a NFL AFC North rivalry game. The Steelers are -1.5 point favorites over the Ravens with an over/under point total set at 40.5.
The Pittsburgh Steelers got their first win of the year on Sunday when they won on the road against the New York Jets. The Steelers have been off to a rough start to the year but even with all of the losing they are still just two games back in the loss column in the AFC North standings. The Steelers offense is averaging 17.6 points and 338.6 yards per game but their 61 yards per game rushing average ranks them 31st in the NFL. QB Ben Roethlisberger has felt the heat of the pass rush as he has completed 65.6 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and five interceptions while being sacked 18 times. Le’Veon Bell should see an increased role in the running game but he is averaging just 2.8 yards per carry with two touchdowns and he has seven receptions and Felix Jones is averaging 3.8 yards per carry. Antonio Brown has been Big Ben’s top target catching 41 passes with two touchdowns, Emmanuel Sanders is next with 23 catches and a touchdown, and Jericho Cotchery and Heath Miller have 15 catches each. Defensively the Steelers are rock solid allowing 23.2 points and 310.8 yards per game with two interceptions, seven sacks, and three fumble recoveries. Ryan Clark as 37 tackles, Lawrence Timmons has 34 tackles, and Troy Polamalu has 25 tackles. The Steelers still have time to regroup and turn their season around but there will be little room for error.
The Baltimore Ravens enter week 7 at .500 and in second place in the AFC North and they are coming off of a home loss to Green Bay. The Ravens lost plenty from last year’s Super Bowl Championship team but they have drafted well and have plenty of talent up and down the roaster. The Ravens offense is averaging 22.3 points and 335.7 yards per game but rank just 27th in the NFL in rushing averaging just 72.7 yards per game. Joe Flacco has completed 57.9 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions while being sacked 19 times. Bernard Pierce and Ray Rice are both averaging just 2.8 yards per carry and Rice also has 20 receptions but he has been banged up. The Baltimore receivers are led by Torrey Smith who has 28 catches and Dallas Clark who has 20 catches but with Jacoby Jones back the overall passing game should improve. Defensively the Ravens allow 21.5 points and 325.5 yards per game with four interceptions, 22 sacks, and seven fumble recoveries. Daryl Smith has 53 tackles, Terrell Suggs has 46 tackles and seven sacks, and James Ihedigbo has 36 tackles. The Ravens don’t have the depth they have had in recent years so the injuries have slowed them.
Pittsburgh is 5-16-1 against the spread in their last 22 games following a win, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and 1-5-1 against the spread in their last seven home games. Baltimore is 4-1 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games, and 0-4 against the spread on the road against a team with a losing home record. The road team is 5-2-2 against the spread in the last nine meetings of these two.
While defense generally rules the day for these two four of the last five meetings of these two and seven of the last 10 in Pittsburgh have all gone over the total. While most of those totals were set in the high 30’s, the games generally go in the mid 40’s so the over is my play here

Over 40.5
