Oakland A’s vs. Detroit Tigers
The Oakland A’s and the Detroit Tigers face off on Monday in Detroit as they play game three of their ALDS series. The Tigers are -160 favorites over the A’s with an over/under run total of 7.
The Oakland A’s the two games in Oakland with the Tigers losing their home field advantage but with the series tied at a game each they can seize control with a win in this one. On Saturday Yoenis Cespedes and Seth Smith each had two hits and Josh Donaldson and Josh Reddick added hits as the A’s scored just once on eight hits. Starting pitcher Sonny Gray allowed four hits and struck out nine over eight scoreless innings but it was Grant Balfour who got the win pitching a perfect ninth inning. For Monday’s game the A’s start Jarrod Parker who is 12-8 with a 3.97 ERA for the season and 1-2 with a 9.20 ERA in his last three starts.
The Detroit Tigers beat the A’s by a run in game one of the ALDS but they fell to the A’s by the same margin in game two. Don Kelly had two hits and Miguel Cabrera and Jose Iglesias each had hits as the Tigers failed to score on the four hits. Starting pitcher Justin Veralander allowed four hits and struck out 11 over 7.0 scoreless innings but it was Al Alburquerque who took the loss. For Monday’s game the Tigers start Anibal Sanchez who is 14-8 with a 2.57 ERA for the season and 0-1 with a 3.31 ERA in his last three starts.
Oakland is 8-2 in their last 10 games as an underdog, 8-3 in their last 11 road games, 44-21 in their last 65 game three of a series, and 2-5 in Parker’s last seven road starts. Detroit is 5-2 in their last seven games against the AL West, 3-7 in their last 10 game three of a series, 5-1 in their last six home Divisional Playoff games, and 10-3 in Sanchez’s last 13 starts.
We have two lineups who can hit but I look for another under with these two arms going.
