LSU Tigers vs. Florida Gators

The LSU Tigers and the Florida Gators face off on Saturday in Baton Rouge in a SEC college football battle. The Tigers are -7 point favorites over the Gators.
The LSU Tigers have been one of the better teams in college football and while they have a loss LSU still has plenty on the schedule to make up for it. LSU is also looking for revenge after bring beat by the Gators in the Swamp last year. The LSU offense is averaging 45.5 points and 488.8 yards per game. Zach Mettenberger has completed 68.2 percent of his passes with 15 touchdowns and two interceptions. Jeremy Hill is averaging 7.5 yards per carry with nine touchdowns, Terrance Magee is averaging 6.4 yards per carry with three touchdowns, Alfred Blue is averaging 5.0 yards per carry. Jarvis Landry leads the LSU receivers with 42 catches and seven touchdowns and Odell Beckham has 35 catches and six touchdowns. Defensively LSU is allowing 24.7 points and 367 yards per game with five interceptions, 10 sacks, and four fumble recoveries. Lamin Barrow has 36 tackles, D.J. Welter has 31 tackles, and Jermauria Rasco has 29 tackles. With a SEC loss already on their record all games are must win at this point for LSU.
The Florida Gators have just one loss on the season and while they aren’t mentioned often in the SEC Championship game discussion Offensively UF is averaging 25 points and 393.4 yards per game which has been more than good enough. QB Tyler Murphy has completed 72.2 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and an interception while rushing for 5.6 yards per carry and two touchdowns. Matt Jones is averaging 4.3 yards per carry with two touchdowns and Mack Brown is averaging 3.7 yards per carry with three touchdowns. Trey Burton has 23 catches with a touchdown to lead the Gators, Solomon Patton has 19 catches and four touchdowns, and Quinton Dunbar has 18 catches. The Florida defense has been spectacular allowing 12.2 points and 217 yards per game with eight interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and 11 sacks. Jaylen Watkins has 27 tackles, Michael Taylor has 25 tackles, and Antonio Morrison has 23 tackles. The Florida defense has been tough to crack as they are one of the top units in the nation.
LSU is 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five SEC games, 1-5-1 against the spread following a win, and 9-4 against the spread following a win by 20 or more points. Florida is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight road games, 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 SEC games, and 2-6 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Florida has covered the point spread in six of the last eight meetings of these two.
A touchdown is a lot of points in a game where the defense should be making playas and taking the points appears to be a solid and safe play.
