Kentucky Wildcats vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
The Kentucky Wildcats and the Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Saturday in Lexington in a SEC college football battle. The Crimson Tide are -27 point favorites over the Wildcats.
The Kentucky Wildcats have just one win on the season and while they lost last week at South Carolina they should heart and no quit losing by a touchdown. For the season the UK offense is averaging 23 points and 388.8 yards per game. Jalen Whitlow went the whole way at QB for Kentucky last week and for the season he has completed 67.6 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and an interception and he is averaging 5.2 yards per carry with three touchdowns. Jojo Kemp is averaging 6.8 yards per carry and Raymond Sanders averages 4.8 yards per carry with two touchdowns and eight receptions. Javess Blue is Kentucky’s leading receiver with 22 catches and a touchdown, Ryan Timmons has 19 catches and a touchdown, and Alex Montgomery has 12 catches and a touchdown. Defensively Kentucky allows 25.6 points and 391.2 yards with one interception, 12 sacks, and four fumble recoveries. Avery Williamson has 51 tackles, Alvin Dupree has 28 tackles, and TraVaughn Paschal has 26 tackles. A win over the Tide would be the biggest win in the history of the Kentucky football program.
The Alabama Crimson Tide remain unbeaten and are ranked number one in the nation and after playing Georgia State last week they are ready to go against SEC competition. The Alabama offense is averaging 37 points and 404.6 yards per game and is often on a short field as their defense sets up the offense. QB A.J. McCaron has completed 71.4 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. T.J. Yeldon is averaging 6.2 yards per carry with four touchdowns and Kenyan Drake averages 7.1 yards per carry with three touchdowns. Christion Jones is Alabama’s leading receiver with 20 catches and two touchdowns, DeAndrew White has 15 catches and three touchdowns, and Kevin Norwood has 12 catches and a touchdown. The Alabama defense allows 12.2 points and 299.8 yards per game with four interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and six sacks. C.J. Moseley has 41 tackles, Landon Collins has 21 tackles, and Ed Stinson has 19 tackles. A team is going to need to play a perfect game to beat Alabama as they won’t be beating themselves anytime soon.
Kentucky is 7-3 against the spread against a team with a winning road record, 4-11 against the spread in their last 15 games overall, and 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 SEC games. Alabama is 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 road games, 1-4 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 8-1 against the spread in their last nine October games. The road team has covered the point spread in the last four meetings of these two.
This is a big number and while Kentucky stood up last week at South Carolina they figure to get run over here.
