Green Bay Packers vs. Cleveland Browns
The Green Bay Packers and the Cleveland Browns face off on Sunday at Lambeau Field in an AFC vs. NFC NFL matchup. The Packers are -11 point favorites over the Browns with an over/under point total set at 46.5.
The Green Bay Packers are in third place in the NFL North but they are even in the loss column. The Packers offense has been as potent as ever averaging 27.4 points and 450.2 yards but they have a minus three turnover margin. Aaron Rodgers as completed 64.1 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. Eddie Lacy is Green Bay’s leading ground gainer averaging 4.4 yards per carry and James Starks is averaging 5.5 yards per carry but he is questionable for this one. Randall Cobb is the Packers leading receiver with 29 catches but he is out for this one so Rodgers will look to Jordy Nelson who has 27 catches and four touchdowns, James Jones with 20 catches and two touchdowns, and Jermichael Finley has 20 catches and two touchdowns. Defensively the Packers are allowing 22.8 points and 371.8 yards per game and they have two interceptions, 17 sacks, and eight fumble recoveries. A.J Hawk has 42 tackles, Brad Jones has 29 tackles, and Sam Shields has 24 tackles but the Packers will be without Clay Matthews for the next month or so. Green Bay has been known for creating turnovers and this season we just haven’t seen that part of their game.
The Cleveland Browns are a work in progress and we see major changes just about every week. The Browns offense hasn’t been overly effective averaging 19.7 points and 330 yards per game and they are dead even in turnover margin. Brandon Weeden is back in at QB and he has completed 56.2 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and five interceptions and he has been sacked 18 times. Willis McGahee has taken over at running back and he is averaging 2.8 yards per carry as the Browns try out several other backs. Jordan Cameron is the Browns leading receiver with 38 catches and five touchdowns, Josh Gordon has 25 catches and two touchdowns, and Davone Bess has 23 catches. The Cleveland defense is allowing 20.8 points and 312.5 yards per game with five interceptions, 19 sacks, and four fumble recoveries. D’Qwell Jackson has 57 tackles, Craig Robertson has 40 tackles, and T.J. Ward has 36 tackles. The Browns are a work in progress but right now they can compete with just about anyone in the NFL.
Green Bay is 34-16-2 against the spread in their last 52 home games, 18-7-1 against the spread after allowing less than 90 yards in their previous game, and they are 4-1 against the spread in their last five game sin October. Cleveland is 11-5-1 against the spread following a loss, 8-3 against the spread following a game in which they didn’t cover the spread, and 1-4 against the spread following a double-digit home loss.
The Packers are missing two of their best players and the Browns seem to be rotating on a weekly basis so I expect to see less offense here and my pick is on the under.
