Seattle Mariners vs. Oakland Athletics

The Seattle Mariners and the Oakland A’s close out their regular season MLB Baseball schedules for 2013 as they face off on Sunday in Seattle. The Mariners are -133 favorites over the Athletics with an over/under run total set at 7.5.
The Seattle Mariners don’t have much t play for at this point but as we saw in their win on Saturday they appear to have at the least built a foundation for their future. Brad Miller hit two home runs and Justin Smoak hit a home run and Dustin Ackley had a hit as the Mariners scored seven runs on seven hit. Starting pitcher Brandon Mauer allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out five over 5.1 innings to get the win and Danny Farquhar earned the save. For Sunday’s season finale the Mariners start Erasmo Ramirez who is 5-2 with a 4.56 ERA for the season and 0-1 with a 2.81 ERA I his last three starts.
The Oakland A’s had a possibility of finishing with the best record in the American League but losing to the Mariners on Saturday eliminated that chance. Brandon Moss and Alberto Jose Callespo each hit home runs and Jed Lowrie and Josh Reddick each had two hits as the A’s scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Jarrod Paker allowed seven hits and seven runs while striking out four over 4.1 innings t take the loss. For Sunday’s game Oakland starts Sonny Gray who is 4-3 with a 2.90 ERA for the season and 2-0 with a 3.94 ERA in his last three starts.
Seattle is 6-13 in their last 19 games overall, 2-5 in their last seven home games against a right-handed starter, and 0-4 in Ramirez’s last four starts. Oakland is 23-9 in their last 32 games, 7-3 in their last 10 road games, and 4-1 in Gray’s last five starts.
The A’s never seem to not play hard and look for them to show once again here that they are the better team.
