Georgia Bulldogs vs. North Texas Mean Green
The Georgia Bulldogs and the North Texas Mean Green face off on Saturday in Athens for a week four college football matchup between the hedges. The Bulldogs are -36.5 point favorites over the Mean Green.
The Georgia Bulldogs haven’t taken the easy road in their first two games of the season losing at Clemson in their opener and then rebounding at home the following week with a win against South Carolina. Last week Georgia had a well-deserved week off and they are back at it in a non-conference game. QB Aaron Murray has completed 71.2 percent of his passes for 632 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. Todd Gurley is averaging 6.8 yards per carry for 286 yards and three touchdowns and Keith Marshall is averaging 4.4 yards per carry. Justin Scott-Wesley has seven catches for 171 yards and Michael Bennett has eight catches. Defensively the Dawgs have three sacks and a fumble recovery but have failed to grab an interception. Amarlo Herrera has 24 tackles, Ramik Wilson has 22 tackles, and Sterling Bailey has 14 tackles. While this looks to be the easiest opponent thus far Georgia knows they can’t overlook anyone.
The North Texas Mean Green are off to a 2-1 start after trailing Ball State last week they rallied for the win. QB Derek Thompson has completed nearly 71 percent of his passes for five touchdowns with two interceptions while rushing for 85 yards and another score. Brandin Byrd has rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns and Reggie Pegram has rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Darnell Smith has 22 catches, Brelin Chancellor has 16 catches, and Carlos Harris has 12 catches. Defensively North Texas has four interceptions, five sacks, and seven fumble recoveries. Zachary Orr has 32 tackles, Marcus Trice as 28 tackles, and Derek Akunne has 21 tackles. North Texas has done a great job creating turnovers and they will need to take advantage of them in this one to have a chance.
Georgia is 4-0 against the spread against the spread against a team with a winning record, 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, and 1-4 against the spread against CUSA. North Texas is 3-7 against the spread against the SEC, 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games, and 7-19 against the spread following a win.
This is a monster number but Georgia is more than capable of covering it but look for North Texas to keep it closer as Georgia plays down to their competition often in these type of games.
