Colorado Rockies vs. St. Louis Cardinals
The Colorado Rockies and the St. Louis Cardinals face off on Wednesday at Coors Field for game three of their series. The Cardinals are -143 favorites over the Rockies with an over/under run total set at 8.5.
The Rockies kept the Cardinals bats in check on but they had not such luck on Tuesday. Michael Cuddyer had two hits and D.J. Lemahieu and Yorvit Torreabla were among those getting hits as the Rockies scored four runs on nine hits in all. Starting pitcher Juan Nicasio didn’t last long as he allowed eight hits and eight runs in 2.2 innings. For Wednesday’s game the Rockies start Tyler Chatwood who is 7-4 with a 3.20 ERA but he hasn’t had a decision in his last three starts.
The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Rockies on Monday but they left no doubts on Tuesday as the pounded the Rockies. Matt Holliday hit a home run on one of his four hits and Matt Carpenter and Jon Jay each had three hits as the Cardinals scored 11 runs on 18 hits. Starting pitcher Joe Kelly allowed three hits over 5.0 innings to get the win. For Wednesday’s game the Cardinals start Adam Wainwright who is 16-9 with a 2.96 ERA for the season.
With the win the Cardinals took a one game lead in the National League Central but that race if far from over with the Cincinnati Reds still very much in the mix as well.
The Cardinals has a big edge on Tuesday and I see them having the edge here as well making the Cardinals my play.
