Buffalo Bills vs. Detroit Lions
The Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Lions face off on Thursday in a week four NFL Preseason matchup. The Lions are -4.5 point favorites over the Bills with an over/under point total set at 40.
If the NFL Preseason wasn’t bad enough, we get to see just how bad it gets in week four every year and this year should be no different. Since most teams end up resigning the guys they cut on the final cut, where they then move to the practice squad, a lot of the drama and the whole bit about fighting for a roster spot is usually lost as well.
The Buffalo Bills were absolutely awful on Saturday, losing to the Washington Redskins. QB Kevin Kolb took a beating before having to leave the game. C.J. Spiller, who has been injured before, was used as a goal line battering ram and scored a touchdown in a meaningless game, but came off of the field injured. The starting defensive line played much of the game and they were simply flattened by the Redskins running game. The Bills dropped several easy interceptions and then, to make matters worse, they were forced to pay by none other than Redskins third string QB, the much maligned Rex Grossman, before Pat White came in and danced all over them.
The Detroit Lions finally decided to show up for a preseason game in week three and when they did, they had the look of an under the radar contender, absolutely pounding the New England Patriots and making future Hall of Fame QB Tom Brady look really bad in the process. Even after the starters left, Kellen Moore looked like he was back at Boise State and playing in the WAC, throwing for two TD passes completing 75 percent. Even hardcore Lions’ fans can admit, when Joique Bell is running for 10 plus yards per clip, things are getting a little out of hand. All kidding aside, Ryan Broyles was thrown to twice and caught them both, a very encouraging sign that he may be ready to contribute.
This is week four of the preseason, so forget about seeing Matthew Stafford or Calvin Johnson. We probably wont see Mario Williams or even Fred Jackson with Spiller dinged up. Either way, the Bills are bad, very bad, and look for them to get rolled up again here.
