New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves
The New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves meet on Wednesday for game three of their series at Citi Field. The Braves are -128 favorites over the Mets with an over/under run total set at 7.5.
The New York Mets bounced back from Monday’s loss to the Braves with a win against Atlanta on Tuesday. David Wright and John Buck had two hits each and Daniel Murphy and Eric Young each had hits as the Mets scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Carlos Torres didn’t break as eh allowed seven hits and a run while striking out six over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 1-1 on the year and Bobby Parnell earned his 19th save. For Wednesday’s game the Mets start Jeremy Hefner who was clubbed for eight runs in two in innings in his last start. For the season Hefner has allowed 106 hits and 48 earned runs while striking out 85 over 110 innings for a 4-7 record and a 3.93 ERA.
The Atlanta Braves took the lead early on Tuesday but once they lost it they never bounced back as they took the loss. Andrelton Simmons hit a home run, Dan Uggla had two hits, and Jason Heyward and Brian McCann each had hits as the Braves scored one run on seven hits. Starting pitcher Kris Medlen allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out four over 5.1 innings to take the loss as he fell to 6-10 on the season. For Wednesday’s game the Braves start Tim Hudson who has won his last three starts. For the season Hudson has allowed 116 hits and 56 earned runs while striking out 86 over 123.2 innings for a 7-7 record and a 4.08 ERA.
New York is 4-0 in game three of a series, 13-25 in their last 38 home games, and 2-7 in Hefner’s last nine home starts. Atlanta is 1-4 in their last five game three of a series, 38-18 against the NL East, and 2-6 in Hudson’s last eight starts as a road favorite. Atlanta is 18-8 in the last 26 meetings of these two.
