New York Mets vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

The New York Mets and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Tuesday at Citi Field for game two of their series. The Diamondbacks are -134 favorites over the Mets with an over/under run total set at 7.
The New York Mets never quit on Monday as they bounced back twice and got the win. Marlon Byrd, Josh Satin, and Omar Quintanilla each had three hits and Eric Young and David Wright had two hits each as the Mets scored five runs on 16 hits. Starting pitcher Shaun Marcum allowed six hits and three runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to not factor in decision as David Aardsma got the win to go to 1-0 on the year. For Tuesday’s game the Mets start Jeremy Hefner who has two no decisions and a win in his last three starts. For the season Hefner has allowed 87 hits and 36 earned runs while striking out 65 over 87 innings for a 2-6 record and a 3.72 ERA.
The Arizona Diamondbacks looked to be winners on Monday but they let it get away from them and took the loss. Aaron Hill had three hits, Cody Ross had two hits, and Paul Goldschmidt and Eric Chavez each had hits as the Diamondbacks scored four runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Wade Miley allowed six hits while striking out seven over 5.2 innings to not factor in the decision as Josh Collmenter took the loss to fall to 4-1 on the season. For Tuesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Patrick Corbin who has had five no decisions in his last five starts. For the season Corbin has allowed 81 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 85 over 109.2 innings for a 9-0 record and a 2.22 ERA.
New York is 8-3 in their last 11 games against a left-handed starter, 1-4 in their last five games following a win, and 1-6 in Hefner’s last seven home starts. Arizona is 0-5 in their last five road games, 2-6 in their last eight games against a team with a losing record, and 22-6 Corbin’s last 28 starts. Arizona is 1-7 in their last eight games in New York.
We have two good arms going here and two worn out bullpens so look for the starters to battle and for this one to come in under the total.
