Colorado Rockies vs. Milwaukee Brewers
The Colorado Rockies and the Milwaukee Brewers face off on Saturday at Coors Field in game two of their series. The Rockies are -120 favorites over the Brewers with an over/under run total set at 10.
The Colorado Rockies jumped all over the Brewers on Friday night and cruised to a win. Todd Helton and Nolan Arenado each had two hits and Troy Tulowitzki and Michael Cuddyer each had hits as the Rockies scored eight runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out 11 over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 7-3 on the season. For Saturday’s game the Rockies start Collin McHugh, who replaces the injured Drew Pomeranz. McHugh was last on the Mets and this will be his first start for the Rockies.
The Milwaukee Brewers fell behind early on Friday and were never really in the game and they lost to the Rockies at Coors Field. Carlos Gomez hit a home run and Rickie Weeks and Norichika Aoki each had two hits as the Rockies scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Wily Peralta allowed seven hits and eight runs, while striking out two over 3.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 7-10 on the season. For Saturday’s game the Brewers start Ton Gorzelanny who has lost his last four starts. For the season, Gorzelanny has allowed 41 hits and 16 earned runs while striking out 56 over 8.1 innings for a 1-4 record and a 2.47 ERA.
Colorado is 5-1 against the NL Central, 3-7 in their last 10 game two of a series, and 16-35 in their last 51 games against a left-handed starter. Milwaukee is 18-45 as an underdog, 2-8 against the NL West, and 1-5 in their last six road games. Milwaukee is 7-20 in their last 27 games in Colorado.
