The Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians meet on Sunday in Cleveland as they close out their series. The Tigers are -139 favorites over the Indians with an over/under run total set at 8.5.
The Cleveland Indians had a chance to move up the NL Central standings over the course of the weekend against the Tigers, but so far they have dropped two in a row and moved two games further back in the standings. On Saturday, Nick Swisher had two hits including a home run, Ryan Raburn hit a home run and Lonnie Chisenall and Drew Stubbs each had two hits as the Indians scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco allowed 10 hits and seven runs, six of them earned, while striking out two over 3.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-4 on the year. For the season, Kluber has allowed 88 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 76 over 81 innings for a 6-5 record and a 4.33 ERA.
The Detroit Tigers are looking to extend their lead in the AL Central as they have a chance to sweep the Indians with a win on Sunday. On Saturday Torii Hunter had three hits including a home run, Miguel Cabrera bit his 27th home run of the season, Prince Fielder hit a home run, and Austin Jackson had two hits as the Tigers scored nine runs on 13 hits. For the season, Fister has allowed 115 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 84 over 109 innings for a 6-5 record and a 3.80 ERA.
Cleveland is 22-11 in their last 33 home games, 9-5 in their last 14 games against the AL Central, and 1-6 in Kluber’s last seven starts as an underdog. Detroit is 5-0 in their last five games, 6-1 in their last seven games as a road favorite, and 2-7 in Fister’s last nine starts. Detroit has won the last seven meetings between these two.
The total in this one is set at 8.5 and I have it going over that number.
