Texas Rangers vs. Cleveland Indians
The Texas Rangers and the Cleveland Indians face off on Wednesday in Arlington in game three of their series. The Rangers are -142 favorites over the Indians with an over/under run total set at 10.
The Texas Rangers lost on Tuesday to the Indians and in the process lost their lead in the AL West as the A’s moved into a tie for first with the Rangers. On Tuesday A.J. Pierzynski had two hits including a home run, and Lance Berkman and Elvis Andrus each had hits as the Rangers scored two runs on seven hits in all. On the mound starting pitcher Derek Holland allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out four over 4.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-3 on the season. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Nicholas Tepesch who has lost his last two decisions, For the season Tepesch has allowed 61 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 45 over 62 innings for a 3-5 record and a 3.92 ERA.
The Cleveland Indians had been in a rough spot looking desperately for a win but at least for a day they put it together getting the win in Arlington. Mark Reynolds had two hits and Drew Stubbs, Nick Swisher, and Ryan Raburn each had hits as the Indians scored five runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Corey Kluber allowed six hits and run while striking out three over 8.0 innings for the win and to 4-4 on the season. For Wednesday’s game the Indians start Ubaldo Jimenez who only lasted three innings in his last start but before that he had been improving each game. For the season Jimenez has allowed 55 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 63 over 62.2 innings for a 4-4 record and a 5.03 ERA.
Texas is 5-2 in their last seven home games, 11-6 in their last 17 games against a team with a losing record, and 1-4 in Tepesch’s last five starts as a favorite. Cleveland is 6-16 in their last 22 games, 31-62 in their last 93 games as an underdog, and 4-12 in Jimenez’s last 16 road starts. Cleveland is 4-13 in their last 17 games in Texas.
The total here looks to be high as these two seem to go under the bulk of the time they face each one another.
