New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays

The New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays face off on Thursday in the Bronx in game on of their AL East series. The Yankees are -106 favorites over the Rays with an over/under run total set 8.
The New York Yankees still aren’t at full strength but they continue to contend are in well within distance to challenge the leaders for the post season. For game one against the Rays the Yankees start Andy Pettitte whohas lost two of his last three decisions. For the season Pettitte has allowed 70 hits and 30 earned runs while striking out 52 over 68.1 innings for a 5-4 record and a 3.95 ERA.
The Tampa Bay Rays are trying to keep up in the AL East but they are on the border of falling behind the pack. The Rays are 3-7 in their last 10 games, 16-19 on the road this season, and they are six games back in the AL East. As a team the Rays are hitting .256 with Evan Longoria hitting .304, James Loney hitting .300, and Ben Zobrist hitting .270. The Rays opponents are hitting .246 and the Tampa Bay pitching staff has an ERA of 4.36 with the starters at 4.59 and the bullpen at 3.94. For game one at Yankee Stadium the Rays start Matt Moore who has been shelled in his last three starts. For the season Moore has allowed 65 hits and 34 earned runs while striking out 68 over 74.1 innings for a 83 record and a 4.12 ERA.
New York is 11-4 in their last 15 games against a left-handed starter, 2-6 in their last eight games overall, and 43-21 in Pettitte’s last 64 starts. Tampa Bay is 2-4 in their last six road games, 2-5 in their last seven games against the AL East, and 5-2 in Moore’s last seven starts as an underdog. Tampa Bay is 35-75 in their last 110 games in New York.
Both of these pitchers have been shaky at times and any slip by either and this goes over the total.
