Chicago Cubs vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

The Chicago Cubs and the Arizona Diamondbacks close out their series on Sunday at Wrigley Field. The Diamondbacks are -140 favorites over the Cubs with an over/under run total set at 7.
The Chicago Cubs have been hot of late but they were cooled down on Saturday after being delayed by rain. Nate Schierholtz had two hits including a home run, David DeJesus had a hit, and Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo scored runs as the Cubs scored four runs on three hits. Starting pitcher Jeff Samardzjia allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out 11 over 6.1 innings but got a no decision as James Russell blew his third save of the year and Carls Marmol took the loss to fall to 2-3 on the season. For Sunday’s game the Cubs start Edwin Jackson who has just one win this year. For the season Jackson has allowed 61 hits and 36 earned runs while striking out 52 over 53 innings for a 1-7 record and a 6.11 ERA.
The Arizona Diamondbacks trailed early on Saturday but hung in and ended up winning big and extending their lead in the NL West. Gerardo Parra and Paul Goldschmidt each had two hits including a home run and Willie Bloomquist had three hits as the Diamondback scored 12 runs on 17 hits in all. Starting pitcher Ian Kennedy allowed four runs on three hits while striking out seven over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 3-3 on the season. For Sunday’s game the Diamondbacks start Patrick Corbin who has yet to lose this season. For the year Corbin has allowed 50 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 56 over 68.1 innings for a 8-0 record and a 1.71 ERA.
Chicago is 4-2 in their last six home games, 5-1 in their last six games overall, and 1-6 in Jackson’s last seven starts as an underdog. Arizona is 12-5 in their last 17 games as a road favorite, 16-5 in their last 21 road games against a team with a losing home record, and 17-5 in Corbin’s last 22 starts. Arizona is 1-4 in their last five games in Chicago.
The total in this one has been set aggressively to the low side and I have this one going over.
