Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox meet on Wednesday for game two of their series in Toronto. The Red Sox are -126 favorites over the Blue Jays with an over/under run total set at 8.
The Toronto Blue Jays battled for a full nine innings as they got the win on Tuesday against the Red Sox. Edwin Encarnacion had two home runs and four RBI’s and J.P. Arencibia and Colby Rasmus each had two hits as the Blue Jays scored nine runs on nine hits. Stating pitcher Brandon Morrow allowed six hits and three earned runs while striking out seven over five innings to not factor in the decision as Steve Delabar got the blown save and also got the win to go to 2-1 on the year and Casey Janssen earned his seventh save of the year. For Wednesday’s game Toronto starts mark Buehrle who lost last time out. For the season Buehrle has allowed 37 hits and 20 earned runs while striking out 19 over 28.1 innings of work for a 1-1 record and a 6.35 ERA.
The Boston Red Sox battled back to get the lead on Tuesday but they were unable to hold it as they lost in Toronto. David Ortiz, Matt Carp, and Jonny Gomes each hit home runs as the Red Sox scored seven runs on nine hits in all. Starting pitcher Jon Lester allowed six hits and six runs, five of them earned, while striking out five over 6.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Junichi Tazawa blew his second save of the year and took the loss to fall to 2-1 on the season. For Wednesday’s game Boston starts Clay Buchholz who has been outstanding this season. For the year Buchholz has allowed 25 hits and five earned runs while striking out 39 over 37.2 innings of work for a 5-0 record and a 1.19 ERA.
Toronto is 8-20 against the AL East, 7-18 as an underdog, and 1-4 in their last five games. Boston is 4-1 in their last five road games, 5-3 against the AL East, and 44-17 in Buchholz’s last 61 starts as a favorite. Boston is 9-3 in Buchholz’s last 12 starts against Toronto.
The total looks to be on the high side and I have this one coming in under the number.
